The Mercedes-Benz W113 series was produced from 1963 to 1971.

A total of around 48,912 copies were made.

The W113 replaced the R121 in 1963 and was succeeded by the R107 in 1971. Chief designers were Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi.

Available was the 230 SL (1963–1967), the 250 SL (1967) and the 280 SL (1968–1971), with manual gearbox or automatic transmission.

Almost all models were supplied with a soft top as standard, but a hard top was available as an option. The hardtop had a curved shape like a Chinese pagoda roof, which is why the W113 is also popularly called 'Pagode'. Also available was a 2+2 coupe with a hard top, with a folding bench instead of the soft top cupboard.

“Collection by Vermant” is pleased to be able to offer you this beautiful Mercedes 230SL ‘Pagode’. This Pagode started its life in the United States in March of 1963. Not much is known about the life of this beautiful Pagode until it came into the possession of the last owner. A Belgian gentleman and avid Mercedes collector and driver. He bought the car several years ago in excellent condition. Throughout his ownership he did not let the condition of the car become less than excellent and spared no expense in maintaining the car. In recent years the suspension and bushings were replaced to give the car back its razor sharp handling. The Belgian owner used the car frequently on leisure drives and rally trips. Due to his increasing age, the owner reluctantly decided to sell the car and let it be enjoyed by a new and caring owner.

When looking at the exterior of this pagode we find a beautiful dark green colour. This bears much resemblance with the iconic British Racing green and suits the subtle lines of the car extremely well. Being a classy model, the Pagode deserves nothing less than a classy colour and the Dark green does just that. The soft top of this car was specified in black mohair to give a subtle contrast to the green paintwork. Not only the paintwork shines bright on this SL but the chrome enhances the look of this SL even further. It presents very nicely with a solid shine throughout. To aid in the usability this SL is still available with its factory hardtop, a rarity today. The hardtop can be mounted during winter periods converting this convertible into a hardtop coupe. To aid the driving comfort during open top drives, a wind deflector was mounted behind the rear seats. This reduces the wind noise and makes longer drives more pleasant and relaxing.

Going over to the interior of this Pagode, we can find a beautiful Beige leather interior. This works very well with the dark green exterior colour of the car and makes for an overall classy and stylish configuration. Despite being refinished, the interior is still finished with the correct materials to retain the original look and feel. Not only the exterior of this Pagode is finished in dark green, but also the dashboard. This is a small detail but it adds to the overall premium look of the SL series. Leather cannot only be found on the seats, but it wraps around the entire cockpit from the doors to the dashboard to the roof hatch. In the rear we can find a vastly spacious luggage area that cannot only house luggage for longer roadtrips but also houses the spare wheel.

This SL will be delivered with the following items:

  • Belgian registration documents

  • Manual

  • Hard top

This exceptional Mercedes-Benz 'Pagode' sports car is in excellent condition and ready for years of driving pleasure.
